FAQ

I have never been to therapy, what can I expect?

First Time in Therapy — What to Expect

After exploring the website, you can schedule a free 15-minute consultation call or fill out the appointment request form. On the form, you’re welcome to share any therapist preferences (male, female, or specific concerns you’d like support with), your availability, and whether you plan to use insurance.

From there, we’ll reach out to coordinate your consultation. This is a brief, no-pressure conversation where you and your therapist can get a feel for each other and see if it’s a good fit.

If you decide to move forward, we’ll guide you through the onboarding process, including submitting insurance information and reviewing any copays or out-of-pocket costs. Once that’s settled, you’ll schedule your first session. All sessions are held virtually by phone or secure video, and your therapist will send you a private link before your appointment.

Your first session is a space to talk about what’s bringing you in and share as much (or as little) of your story as feels comfortable. You might touch on areas like family, relationships, work or school, and important life experiences. Some people go deeper right away; others take their time. There’s no pressure to open up faster than you’re ready for.

Therapy is about building a relationship where you feel safe and understood. Your therapist will meet you where you are and move at a pace that feels right for you.

Do you take insurance?

We can verify your benefits and let you know about any copays or deductibles before your first session.

What if I don’t have insurance?

Private pay options are available. We offer low cost out of pocket rates to keep therapy accessible. Reach out to learn mores.

How often will we meet?

Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially when symptoms feel more frequent or intense. Weekly support helps build momentum and create consistency.

Over time, many clients shift to every other week, which allows space to practice and implement strategies between sessions. As things feel more manageable, some move to once a month for maintenance or check-ins. We’ll adjust the frequency based on your goals, lifestyle, and the level of support you need at different stages.

What if I don’t feel like it’s a good fit?

That’s completely okay. The right therapeutic relationship matters, and we can help guide you toward another provider if needed.

Will my therapist give me advice?

Therapy is collaborative. While your therapist may offer guidance or perspective, the goal is to help you build insight and make empowered decisions for yourself.
